Great question! And I've had this asked enough times in the past week that I regret not adding some details about brands in the article. I don't have any specific brand recommendations - but I've been using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. I just pick it up on Amazon or at Costco when I go. I may do some additional research here and update with a note on a preferred brand though.
Could we tailor collagen supplementation more precisely to individual needs and optimize its effectiveness, or do you think we're still a long way from such personalized approaches in supplementation?
I think we're a while away from it being so individualized. My philosophy is something like this: if it's a very safe supplement with apparent dose effects that don't saturate, take more.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides - but it's not an endorsement. I mentioned to Anon above, but I'm going to update with a note on some brands we can feel confident in.
I dont take any supplements. I make chicken soup, roasting the chicken and then using the chicken, broken down and boiling the entire chicken in the broth. I learned this from my mother who cooked everything fresh. Growing up we never had frozen foods, canned spaghetti or junk food. It's funny when I think back growing up. Coming from an old world mother and father, I did not know what a potato chip was until I was in first grade. My mother would come home from grocery shopping and my brother and I would ask... "Did you get anything good", meaning junk...
I don't take any meds and I would like to keep myself on this track. Supplements and vitamins, I've been reading, are not what they claim to be.
I rely on whole foods. I'm doing pretty good but wonder what more I can do to continue a healthy life.
I'm getting things ready to plant my own garden this spring.
I have farms in my area that raise their own livestock and am planning on looking into supporting my local farmer.
I'm still looking for direction. I'm the meantime, I will continue doing what I am doing.
I just cooked some rabbe with olive oil and garlic... It's better than you could imagine.
That's my feeling too. I was sold the idea by Maggie Q, who has a very active marketing presence on FB. Then found an amino/electrolyte blend in the supermarket so I drink that every morning haha. I'll let you know if any miracles happen! 😜
Interesting question. Well, proteins are just poly amino acids. In either case, it will depend upon the composition of amino acids. It may be that pure amino acids have greater bioavailability though.
What brand do you recommend?

Interesting, it’s like how biotin doesn’t really do much after a certain dosage. Which brand do you take?

I read somewhere it was better to take amino acids than protein. Would you agree?
